Hello and Happy Holidays!

It’s been an eventful year since I joined the team here at St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County, and about six months since I last wrote you, so I’d like to share some recent highlights with you.

On May 1, we reopened our Pleasant Hill store that was severely damaged by fire in late October 2017. The team there has risen like a phoenix from the ashes – stop by and see what’s new and support our programs. The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Stores are an excellent resource for your holiday shopping!

In August and November, SVdP raised funds to help those affected by Northern California wildfires, raising more than $9,500 for the victims of the Redding and Mendocino fires and more than $25,000 for the Camp Fire victims. Thank you for your generosity.

Since April we have held many training workshops for our volunteers, extending their impact and ability to help our neighbors in need. A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our volunteers – you are the backbone of our organization. We couldn’t help the needy without your hard work and dedication to SVdP!

It’s the perfect time of the year to thank our supporters, volunteers, staff and clients, and for all you do to support families in need.  The spirit of the Holidays reminds us that every person should be treated with compassion, dignity and friendship.  This is the work that St. Vincent de Paul embarks on daily, and I’m so proud to be on the team with all of you in accomplishing this mission.

Wishing you and your families a blessed holiday season and all the best for the New Year!
