Stephanie smiles as she receives a donated car to help her get around.

Living in Contra Costa without a car is hard.

At St. Vincent de Paul of Contra Costa County, we have a special program that brings warmth and hope to families in need by giving them cars donated by kind-hearted people like you. These donated cars don’t just provide transportation; they bring smiles and relief to those facing tough times. When someone gives a car, we make sure it’s safe and then find the perfect person or family to give it to.

Stephanie is one of the people whose heart was touched by the kindness of a generous donor like you. SVdP matched Stephanie with a working Toyota hybrid, and her gratitude knows no bounds.

Stephanie is disabled and is caring for a son with complex medical issues that require frequent doctor visits. Without a car, getting her son to appointments was extremely difficult.

“I never thought this would happen, I prayed and prayed,” Stephanie said with a heart full of thanks. “I’m just so thankful. This car will change my life.”

Stephanie is a devoted mom who cares for her son, and having a reliable car means the world to her. Before, she had to rely on expensive Uber or Lyft rides to get to son’s doctor appointments. These regular trips have been a huge drain on her fixed income.

“I would have to take Uber or Lyft if I had to get somewhere suddenly,” Stephanie shared. “But each ride would cost $50-$100, and I just couldn’t afford that. But now that I have a car, this is going to change my life.”

Stephanie walks with a walker, and having a car will make it much easier for her to get around and take care of her son. Thanks to people like you, Stephanie’s life is getting warmer and brighter, one donated car at a time.
