On Saturday, November 19, 2016, The St. Vincent de Paul branch at St. Francis Assisi church in Concord, and the coaches and players on the De La Salle Lacrosse teams provided over 150 turkeys and over 90 volunteer hours to help hungry Concord families. As a result, these 150 families, (over 620 individuals), will have a special holiday meal to serve their family this Thanksgiving.
Jane Streich, the St. Vincent de Paul food pantry coordinator said that they would not be able to extend this program to the needy without the help of the De La Salle Lacrosse teams. “We source the other groceries that are included in this special Thanksgiving food basket such as potatoes, beans, rice, oil, but without the help from De La Salle’s Lacrosse teams, we would not be able to include the turkeys.”
The St. Vincent de Paul branch at St. Francis of Assisi operates a food pantry and other services for the needy.
The De La Salle Lacrosse teams have provided this assistance to St. Vincent de Paul for 7 years, raising over $17,500 and contributing over 630 volunteer hours.
